3D Printing Business
Overview
This project represents a small 3D printing business I started to design, manufacture, and sell functional products online. The goal was to apply engineering skills to real customer problems while learning product design, manufacturing iteration, and basic business operations.
The business focuses on simple, functional 3D-printed products designed to solve everyday problems. Products are sold through online marketplaces including Etsy, eBay, and Amazon. Rather than producing decorative items, I focused on utility-driven designs.
Engineering & Execution
I researched on platforms such as Etsy and Amazon to find specific products that were missing from the marketplace. I designed functional products that were easy to 3D print and were genuinely useful to people. An example of a product I sell is a wall mount for a smart home product that many people use. Many accessories for this brand and product exist, but a wall mount was missing which I capitalized on.
Results
The business generated $8,000+ in sales across Etsy, eBay, and Amazon, with 800+ orders fulfilled. Through this process, I learned how to make functional, cost-effective products that sell well. I also learned how to market products and ensure positive feedback.
